The InterContinental Athénée Palace Bucharest’s responsible business plan follows the guidance of our parent company, InterContinental Hotels Group, and focuses on the triple Bottom Line of Economic Prosperity, Environmental Protection and Social Responsibility. We aim for our sustainability strategy – which aligns with the United Nations 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development – to become the benchmark of the hospitality industry. We pledge our commitment to Journey to Tomorrow launched by IHG Hotels & Resorts.
WORLD WATER WEEK
Between 23 – 27 August 2026, InterContinental Athénée Palace Bucharest will be joining the global observance of World Water Week with a few simple ways to make every drop count.
As part of our commitment to more responsible hospitality, guests who choose our Greener Stay program will receive 1,000 IHG One Rewards points per night instead of the usual 500 points during
this period - a little extra incentive to make a more sustainable choice during their stay.
And because saving water can be fun, we have prepared a surprise shower challenge for our guests! They are invited to discover a world-famous Romanian song, press play, then dance, sing along and finish their shower before the song ends. It’s a playful challenge with a serious purpose: enjoy the moment, turn down the water and make every drop count.
